Jazz Societies and Festivals

  • Chilliwack Dixieland Jazz Festival
    Held at the beginning of May, The Chilliwack Jazz Festival is known for solid bands, and its promotion of youth jazz. This is also where the 51st eight was born!
  • Hot Jazz Society (Vancouver)
    An institution of the local jazz scene, the Society operates the Hot Jazz Club at 2120 Main St. They host numerous events including weekly dances and live bands including the 51st Eight.
  • North Island Hot Jazz Society
    Jazz society organizes the North Island Hot Jazz Festival, a nice festival in Courtenay on beautiful Vancouver Island. At the beginning of June.
  • Oregon Dixieland Jubilee (Seaside)
    Held in beautiful Seaside. February 24-26, 2006 will mark the 51st Eight's first visit to this festival. Other bands include the Titan Hot Seven, Cornet Chop Suey, High Sierra, Blue Street, Uptown Lowdown, and Chicago Six.
  • Pentastic Jazz Festival
    Wonderful traditional jazz and swing festival in Penticton, BC.
    2005 included Blue Street, Chicago Six, Lance Buller, Bob Draga, Uptown Lowdown, Le Dixieband, the 51st Eight, and more!
  • Sacramento Jazz Jubilee
    The world's largest traditional jazz festival is held every May on Memorial Day weekend. 100+ Bands.
  • Sun Valley Swing 'n' Dixie Jazz Jamboree
    The "cadillac" of jazz festivals and parties. In beautiful Sun Valley, Idaho. Great bands, great venues, great location. Held each October.
  • Vancouver Dixieland Jazz Society
    Official sponsor of the 51st Eight. Runs youth programs and two jazz festivals: Vancouver Dixiefest in October, and the one-day Spring Dixiefest in March.
  • Victoria Hot Jazz Festival
    Hot jazz is back in Victoria each April! 2005 featured Chicago Six, Lance Buller and the Monarchs, CanUs, Uptown Lowdown, Climax Jazz Band, Dixieland Express, Desperation, String of Pearls, Igor's Jazz Cowboys, Belvedere Broadcasters, and the 51st Eight.
  • White Rock Traditional Jazz Society
    Jazz Society operates Sunday afternoon jazz club at the Crescent Beach Legion just south of Vancouver. Be sure to check out the 51st Eight the next time they play.
